Actor Kangana Ranaut has shared exciting news about her latest film, Emergency. The movie will be available to watch on Netflix starting March 17. Kangana announced this on her Instagram Stories, where she reposted a fan’s collage of her and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, simply writing, “17th March releasing on @netflix.”

Emergency was released in theaters on January 17, 2025, and has earned ₹21.65 crore in India, according to Sacnilk.com. In the film, Kangana plays the role of Indira Gandhi, focusing on the important and challenging time known as the Emergency, which lasted from 1975 to 1977. Kangana not only acted in the film but also directed it, showcasing her talent behind the camera.
The movie features a strong cast, including Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, Milind Soman, and the late Satish Kaushik. However, Emergency faced some difficulties before its release, such as delays and issues with censorship. Some Sikh groups protested against the film, claiming it misrepresented Sikh history. In August 2024, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) sent a legal notice to the filmmakers, asking them to remove scenes that they felt showed “anti-Sikh” sentiments.
As Emergency gets ready for its release on Netflix, fans are looking forward to seeing Kangana’s portrayal of this important part of Indian history. The film’s availability on the streaming platform will allow more people to watch and understand the story.
